Workers... or should I say former workers... at Chicago based Republic Windows and Doors have organized a 'sit-in' protest in response to the companies announcement that they are ceasing operations. Workers are holding out for vacation and severance pay they feel they are owed. Let me ask you this... how is a company that is ceasing operations due to lack of capital going to fork over a bunch of cash to it's workers? And by the way, severance packages are not a requirement for business owners. As a small business owner myself, it irritates me to see how people feel they are 'owed' things from other people. Whether it's jobs, financial help, or in this case severance from a broke employer, too many people think it's their right. Shouldn't it be my right to say no, go help yourself? |
